Day 2 of our Cruise

Posted on March 26, 2019March 17, 2024 by crazy2b

Day 2 on the ship was a day of leisurely exploration, indulging in delicious food, and enjoying refreshing drinks. Joanne kicked off the day by attending a meet and greet, where she won a free pizza! We gathered valuable insights about various tours and dos and don’ts for our trip. Later, we tried our luck at Bingo, but as usual, we weren’t even close to winning.

The weather started a bit chilly, with the sun making a grand appearance only after lunch, turning up the heat. We savored a few more afternoon drinks before getting ready for the formal dinner. Wearing a suit and tie on vacation felt a bit out of place, but the exquisite lobster dinner made it all worthwhile. It was so delectable that I couldn’t resist having seconds! A fellow diner jokingly mentioned that “Vacation Calories don’t count,” but I reminded myself that I still needed to fit into my clothes for the remaining six days of the trip!

After dinner, we enjoyed some live music at the Frog bar before calling it a night, preparing for an exciting day ahead at Amber Cove, Dominican Republic.

Day One….

Posted on March 25, 2019March 17, 2024 by crazy2b

Crazy expensive Wifi on the ship so updates only when I find connection …

After a delightful breakfast overlooking the scenery, we returned to our hotel to pack up and prepare for boarding our ship. This time, we took the correct route back to the hotel, a quick cab ride that brought our “Home away from home” into view. Checking in was smooth sailing, and soon enough, we found ourselves at the bar, savoring our first drink aboard the Carnival Magic. The sheer size of the ship was breathtaking – 12 floors of sheer awesomeness awaited us.

Despite spotting a casino, I resisted the temptation and headed straight to the next bar. After hours of exploring, it was time to indulge in our first meal onboard. The smoked pork, fried chicken, and salad were absolutely delicious! We then set out to discover more of the 12 bars scattered throughout the ship, with everyone eager for Happy Hour deals. Luckily, we had a drink package, allowing us 15 drinks a day up to $20 each – a fantastic deal! However, the half-price fish bowls caused quite a stir and led to a lively dance party on the main deck near the pool, with people of all ages dancing like they were in their twenties.

After a rejuvenating nap on an upper deck, we woke up ready to enjoy the ship’s culinary delights. Guy’s Burgers turned out to be a surprising highlight, offering one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. And let’s not forget the self-serve soft ice cream – a delightful treat!

To burn off some calories, we continued exploring the ship, enjoying a few more drinks before preparing for dinner. After a quick shower and a drink on our balcony, we headed to dinner, where the flat iron steak paired perfectly with red wine for me, while Joanne savored salmon with a splash of white wine. The food was exquisite, but we joked that we couldn’t indulge like this for the entire week unless we wanted our clothes to feel a bit snug!

Waddling down the hall to catch the late-night entertainment, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the show. A nightcap at the bar rounded off our evening before retiring to our room for a well-deserved rest.

Downtown Miami

Well after finding a $330 US a night hotel room we wandered down to the Bayside Market to have a few drinks and walk around looking at the million dollar yachts. It’s quite the happening place! One drink of 151 proof rum and the party got started! Live music and all kinds of bars and shops. Pretty much a tourist trap… but what the heck? It worked well to offer up a headache this morning!! I must say that the walk back to the hotel was the longest scenic walk ever (not really scenic). Totally got all screwed up and walked 25 or so blocks when it really should’ve only been like six… but we’re safe!

Good EARLY morning…

Posted on March 23, 2019May 8, 2019 by crazy2b

Wow, the day started off extremely foggy! Good thing we only had to fight it to Innisfail. At 50 km/h it would’ve made for a really long drive to the airport! Thankfully that was not the case and we are sitting at the airport (no extra security checks) with enough time to sit, relax and enjoy an early morning beer.

Just a couple …

Posted on March 20, 2019March 17, 2024 by crazy2b

The countdown is on! Only two more days of work before we board our flight early Saturday morning at 7:55 AM, heading towards a much warmer destination. I took out my beach attire last night and, well, it’s a little snug, but it’ll do the trick! It’s funny how I have to pack a suit and tie for this holiday – not exactly what you think of for a vacation! But hey, I don’t mind dressing up for a few formal dinners.

I made a pit stop after work today to pick up some All Natural Sunscreen for the protected waters. Boy, was it pricey! But I suppose that’s the cost of anything healthy and natural these days, right?

Our cruise has been booked…

Posted on March 9, 2019March 17, 2024 by crazy2b

Now that things have settled down a bit, we’ve decided to treat ourselves to a well-deserved vacation. In honor of Stacey and Melissa, we’ve booked a cruise heading south of Florida. Our journey begins in Miami, where we’ll set sail towards the enchanting islands of the Dominican Republic, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and then Turks and Caicos. This time, we’ve splurged on a balcony suite, which promises to be absolutely breathtaking! Although the ship is a bit larger with 3500 guests, we’re sure it will be a stunning experience.

Our departure date is fast approaching on March 23, and we’ll be back by April 1. While it may not feel long enough, it’s the perfect time of year to escape the cold and embrace warmer weather. After a long and chilly February, we’re more than ready for a break! We can’t wait to explore the beautiful islands and crystal-clear blue waters of South Florida. It’s going to be an exciting adventure!
